How to Install and Setup Motorola Software Upgrade/Repair Assistant on Windows/Mac PC

In this post, we share step-by-step tips on how to install the Motorola Upgrade Assistant on your Windows PC or Mac if the Over-the-Air (OTA) update option on your phone is unsuccessful.

You will find the most recent phone software update on the Software Upgrade Assistant (SUA)/ Software Upgrade Assistant (SRA) tool at most 7 days following the release of a new software update.

This information is only valid for all Motorola devices produced after 20th August, 2013.

System Requirements for Motorola Software Upgrade Assistant (SUA)/ Software Upgrade Assistant (SRA)

How to Install Motorola SUA/SRA on Windows PC

Step 1: Switch on your phone, unlock it and connect it to your PC via a USB cable. You should see an AutoPlay pop-up should open automatically on your computer.

Step 2: Once connected, if available, please ensure you enable the CD-ROM feature on your device.

If the Autoplay pop-up doesn't show on your computer, you may visit www.motorola.com/verizonsoftwareupdatewin to download the software.

Step 3: On your device, swipe down on the status bar which is located at the top of the screen.

Step 4: Select the USB connection option.

Step 5: Select Software Installation mode.

Step 6: From the AutoPlay pop-up window, click Install Verizon Software Upgrade Assistant for Motorola.

If the AutoPlay pop-up window doesn’t show, open Windows Explorer, then click CD Drive Installer and double-click the setup.exe file to launch.

Once the download process is successful, the Assistant automatically checks for software updates.

Step 7: Click Yes to download and install the Software Upgrade Assistant.

Step 8: On the Welcome screen, click Next.

Step 9: To continue, review the Terms and Conditions, click “I accept the agreement”, then click Next.

Step 10: On the Select Destination Location screen, select the desired location or leave it as is and then click Next.

Step 11: On the Select Additional Tasks screen, click the Create a desktop shortcut checkbox if desired, then click Next.

Step 12: On the Ready to Install screen, click Install.

Step 13: When the installation process is complete, click the "Launch Software Upgrade Assistant" checkbox, and then click Finish.

After this, the Software Update - Software Upgrade / Repair Assistant will launch automatically. Follow the instructions to complete the software update.

How to Install Motorola SUA/SRA on Macintosh

Step 1: Switch on your phone on, unlock it and connect it to your computer via a USB cable. An AutoPlay pop-up should open automatically on the computer.

Ensure you enable the CD-ROM feature on the device once connected.

If Autoplay pop-up doesn't show automatically on your computer, proceed to www.motorola.com/verizonsoftwareupdatemac to download the software.

Step 2: Swipe down on the status bar which is located at the top of your device.

Step 3: Tap the USB connection pop-up.

Step 4: Tap “Software Installation mode”.

Step 5: From the Installer screen, double-click the “Install Verizon Wireless Assistant” icon.

Step 6: Click “Yes” to download and install the Software Upgrade Assistant.

Step 7: On the Introduction screen, click Continue.

Step 8: Review the Terms and Conditions, then click Continue.

Step 9: On the Installation Type screen, click Install.

Step 10: If your computer uses a password, enter the password then click Install Software.

Step 11: When the installation process is complete, click Close.

Following a successful installation, the Software Update - Software Upgrade/Repair Assistant will launch automatically. Follow the instructions to complete the software update.
